Dr. Zhang is a former healthcare system CEO and an innovative leader who has built her life around healing systems and empowering people. Raised in rural China and trained in the United States, her journey spans borders, disciplines, and generations.

As the longtime CEO of a culturally-rooted healthcare system in San Francisco, she united ancient wisdom and modern strategies to create inclusive, people-centered leadership models. Her philosophy is deeply influenced by Confucius’ teaching, which emphasizes 修身齐家治国平天下: better oneself, uplift one's family, lead with integrity, and help create a just and harmonious world.

After years of transformative leadership, she now steps into a new chapter—not as a captain, but as a 点灯人 (an illuminator) — sharing her light through board advising, executive coaching, creative writing, compassionate mentorship, and innovative leadership. She is the founder of Lumina Global Health and Leadership, a platform for reimagining the future with integrity and purpose.​​​
